The children have settled nicely into our new room across the hall.
We are enjoying the additional space and the morning sunshine streaming in the windows. After making a list of things that are the same and different about our room, the children discovered that, although the "look" is a bit different, the classroom components are about the same. We have a Word Wall, Mailboxes, Coat hooks, Desks, , Book Boxes, a Lunch Bin, Calendar, Thermometer, Star of the Week displays, and ...the fish! I look forward to creating a room with the children that is a safe place to learn, cooperate and explore.
READING NEWS-
In our CAFE, we focused on the "C" today - Comprehension. We know it's important to understand what we read, so we "Check for Understanding" on each page. One strategy good readers use to clarify if they do not understand is to : "<-----Back Up and ReRead<-----".
In Daily Five, we were introduced to a new way to practice our reading: Read to Someone. Ask your child what it means to sit EEKK! They look forward to practicing this new way to read and building their stamina.
MATH NEWS -
We are reviewing and practicing using tallies to record our counting. Our first HomeLink went home on Tuesday. HomeLinks encourage development of number sense and recognition that math skills aren't used only in the classroom but in many places everyday.
