On our book shelf to the right is our current read aloud story. Our hero is Nate Twitchell, who has discovered an unusual, enormous egg in his family's henhouse. After a summer of caring for the egg it finally "hatches out," and Nate and his family and the paleontologist, (visiting tiny Freedom, New Hampshire for summer vacation), have discovered a baby triceratops! Nate and Dr. Ziemer are recording data to monitor its growth - just as we are recording the growth and changes of our mealworms. (Do you know we have three in the pupa stage?) We are making connections with Nate and wondering how the family will handle the crowds of visitors when the news gets out to the world.
Pete the Cat is an engaging story the children heard told by Mr. McHugh. In the story, Pete is very excited to wear his bold red sneakers. They are his school shoes. Our students cruised the school in pairs to find places to put Pete in his school shoes. He's in the computer lab with Olivia and Sydney, the Commons with Andrew and Faith followed by Aidan and Max. Chris and Emily have put Pete in the gym, while Hinata and Angelica M. have him coughing in the nurse's office! Next Brent and Jada have him writing in Mrs. DuBose's kindergarten room, and finally, he is drawn in the music room by AngelicaK. and Alec. |
