My students are very tech savvy. They are drenched in technology daily, so I want to make sure they are thoughtful when using it. I no longer view technology as that component"over there" that I need to integrate into my classroom. It's already there. I think of technology as making things accessible.
*Technology allows us to access information instantly if we ask the right questions.
-Is the temperature with wind-chill going to prevent us from going outside for recess ?
"What does this spelling word mean?" "What does a tornado look like?"
*It allows us to access the opinions of others while collaborating. We can learn to do this responsibility in a closed classroom setting until we develop the skills to go world wide.
*Technology allows us to save, record and retrieve audio, video and written portfolios that mark our progress throughout the school year.
*It allows us to connect globally and respond as caring citizens.
*It allow me to constantly read and learn new ideas so I can "teach like a pirate"!
I'm using it and my kids are, too!
