Each week the class sees a poem for the week. Reading the poem every day helps students develop speaking and reading fluency.
Last week and this week our theme is Pumpkins.
Let's watch one grow! youtu.be/AB-dfi_0TsQ
Here is one of our poems:
Five Little Pumpkins
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The first one said, "Oh my, it's getting late!"
The second one said, "There are witches in the air!"
The third one said, "We don't care!"
The fourth one said, "We're ready for some fun!"
The fifth one said," Let's run, and run, and run!"
Then "Oooooooooh!" went the wind
an OUT went the light.
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!
We also use music to build our listening skills. We call them Sensory Breaks or Brain Breaks. (the videos let us go a little crazy then tell us when to stop!) Your Kindergartener has a long day, so I know it's important allow the wiggles out.
Here is a new song we are dancing with this week. Please click on the first letter I in IF to open the link:
If You're a Kid, (dance around)
Also this short week:
Fiction story: Ready for Pumpkins by Kate Duke
Non-fiction story: Pumpkins by Ken Robbins
Video Story: Pumpkin Jack
We'll spend time with our Buddies twice this week. We introduce ourselves, ask our neighbor's name, then we ask how they're doing.
