Our third component of DAILY FIVE is "Listen to Reading". I cannot stress enough how important it is for young readers to have good reading modeled for them. Throughout the day reading is modeled with quality picture books and read aloud literature. During the DAILY FIVE literacy time your child will be accomplishing this independently with the help of classroom technology. He or she will be listening to books recorded to I-PODS, CD's and via the online Memorial Library website. (Thank you for sending in the headphones so we can do this quietly!)
If you are reading this BLOG you are very close to accessing the Library website and the books available there. A link is posted on my "Learning Websites" page.
*Please click on the link.
*Look to the right and click on the purple oval, Read Along With the Story.
*Click on TumbleBook Library.
*Click to open the RED Storybooks box.
*YOU ARE IN! Choose from the many books. You can also plan a good fit by checking how long it will take to be read to you. The minutes are posted under each story summary.
As a parent you can help your child gain independence accessing these pages by guiding him or her to them at home. Every skill takes some practice to become fluent. We hope to help our children become fluent at accessing technology learning tools as well as becoming fluent readers.
